Hold on to your hats, here we go.
Wow, I can’t believe that it has been almost two months since I had the time to sit down and fill everyone in on the happenings at Stone and Glass.
UCSD Glass Lab approved
First, the item that I’m most excited about is that the UCSD Board of Regents has greenlighted the new Glass Lab that will start construction around the first of the year. Many of you may know that I was blessed to have played an instrumental role in creating the vision of exactly what the new lab needed to be and do. I got the call this week that 100% of my recommendations were approved. This is a huge win for the glass art community not only here in San Diego, but for all students wanting to study the glass arts.
The Glass Thread, One Artists Lonely Journey
Next item, again some of you may know that for the past two years I have been writing my memoir titled “The Glass Thread, One Artists Lonely Journey.” Well, it’s close to being released. We are on the final editorial pass. With a bit of luck, it will be available in June, just in time for my birthday. I will be creating an incentive program for any of my patrons who purchase it, read it and write a review. If you are interested in being part of the release, please send me back an email to james@stoneandglass.com and I will add you to the list for a free copy of the pre-release E-book. I have been told that it is a good read. Be aware, it will come in about 420 pages.
Let’s see, what else is happening at Stone and Glass
The Collectors Club, limited edition drinking glass subscription, will twilight in August. The final month to join the Collectors Club is May and then for only four months. We still have lots of beautiful items to add to your collections. But the subscription model will be finished.
This will make room for some of the projects I designed over the years but somehow just never got made. Some of these art pieces will be made in limited edition series and some will be “one offs.” Some will be for my solo retrospective show next year on the east coast and some will be for sale.
In the meantime, we are deeply involved in several large art projects, one we have mentioned before, 10 artistic benches in our trademark cut and cast method each designed by an individual artist. It is so exciting to be leading this collaborative effort, two of the test cuts are shown in the photos. Stay tuned for more as we get closer to installation this fall on UCSD 8th College campus.
If you want to fill in your James Stone collection, keep your eyes open. I suspect that the new pieces will start to show up in late summer.
Thank you for reading my notes and for your support. I wish you all well, peace, happiness and prosperity on your journey.
Yes, I certainly wish to get a copy of your upcoming book!
Warren
Good to hear from you Warren, you are on the list.
