Stone and Glass is proud to announce
Painting on Hot Glass, The Art of Torchwork
with Mayauel Ward
Three day workshop
Thursday, Friday and Saturday
November 14, 15 & 16
Using rods of colored glasses and torches, Mayauel will demonstrate and coach on how to put flowers, fish and the like into paperweights vases and perfume bottles. He describes this technique as kind of a combination of welding, sculpting and painting all at once with hot glass. Beginning with simple single layer designs and we’ll work our way up to multi layered designs.
Mayauel has been working with glass for almost 40 years. He says “I want viewers to wonder, “how did he make this?” People sometimes ask me if I am encasing real flowers in glass or if I have used paint to create my images. They are astonished to learn that every part of my work is made entirely of glass.”
Class is limited to 4 intermediate students
